Charles C. Haynes

Senior Scholar at the First Amendment Center, Arlington, VA. He directs the center’s First Amendment educational program in schools and addresses issues concerning religious liberty in American public life. Dr. Haynes is one of the principal organizers and drafters of a series of consensus guidelines on religious liberty in public education endorsed by a broad range of major religious and educational organizations. He is the author of Religion in American History: What to Teach and How, and Finding Common Ground: A First Amendment Guide to Religion and Public Education. His weekly column on religious liberty appears in newspapers nationwide.
